Great pictures are a huge part of football journalism and we asked our photographers to pick their favourites.

Simon Dack has seen it all in his years at The Argus but this season was something special even for him.

He was particularly pleased with shots of Alexis Mac Allister’s late penalty at home to Manchester United and the celebrations.

He also went for Adam Webster telling Bruno Fernandes what he thought as the United man stayed down after a foul.

In addition, Dacky picked out his shot of Danny Welbeck hosting Tariq Lamptey aloft as part of the celebrations during the Carabao Cup win at the Emirates.

Richard Parkes, who covers Albion in the North and Midlands, picked out a picture from Anfield as his favourite.

It came a few minutes into Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge and shows a close-up of Leandro Trossard celebrating the first of three goals he scored that day.

Richard said: “One of the first ‘shock’ results we have now become accustomed to. A lovely clear, close-up, unexpected cele.”

Liz Finlayson, who covers some home fixtures for The Argus, was pleased with one of her most recent shots – the perfectly positioned view of Julio Enciso scoring his goal of the season to earn a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Great images from an unforgettable few months.
