Albion under-21s came from two goals down to win 3-2 at Chelsea and secure their first victory of the campaign.
Luca Barrington struck twice and Mark O’Mahony hit the 63rd-minute winner.
The result followed Albion’s 4-1 win in this fixture towards the end of last season.
Tariq Lamptey played the first 64 minutes as he builds match fitness.
He went off just after the Seagulls went in front.
Albion have the option of giving him more action on Tuesday when the under-21s go to Walsall in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Noel Atom, the former Leipzig academy defender who signed for the club last week, was among the players to go on as sub.
