Albion fans flocked to the Amex for a sunny bank holiday afternoon and though the result was not what they wanted, many had smiles on their faces.

After a changeable morning, Seagulls fans were blessed with bright sunshine for the afternoon's match.

And it was needed to lift spirits as Roberto De Zerbi's side were not on top form against West Ham United.

This was Brighton's first loss of the season and the Hammers were in the lead from the 19th minute when James Ward-Prowse scored the first goal.

Jarrod Bowen added a second for the visitors in the 58th minute.

Brighton dominated possession and territory on home turf but were unable to stop Michail Antonio from cementing West Ham's lead with a third goal just five minutes later.

Pascal Gross scored the Seagulls a late consolation goal, but in the 81st minute it was not enough to get back at the "ruthless" Hammers.

The game was a "reality check" for De Zerbi's side who had been top of the table and have now dropped to fourth.
