But he was involved in work ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.
A photo gallery on Albion’s website showed him training with the squad, tussling with Adam Webster.
But Evan Ferguson, who pulled out of international duty due to knee soreness, was not pictured.
His situaion is likely to become clearer when Roberto De Zerbi talks to the media on Friday.
Albion have several players away on international duty.
Luca Barrington, who is off to a good start to the season with the under-21s, was shown taking part in the session.
Adam Lallana is also back in training after a few days working with the England under-21 coaching staff.
