Mark Beard  says some Eastbourne Borough fans have found it hard to adapt to change.

But he hopes they have another enjoyable day when Priory Lane hosts an all-Sussex FA Cup tie tomorrow.

Borough meet fellow Vanarama National League south side Worthing in the second qualifying round.

Beard’s arrival as boss was part of a summer overhaul under new owner Simon Leslie which also saw the club return to full-time status.

They ended a losing run last time out at home by beating Weston-Super-Mare 2-1.

Beard said: “It has been a big upheaval. We had a whole new squad to recruit and off the field it has been unbelievable.

“From when I came in to now, in three months, the change has been incredible.

“Everything he said he was going to do has been done.

“They have turned it into a proper football club. It is going to take time.

“People don’t like change but they will see this is change for the better and you can see what they are trying to do.

“We had a Fun Day at our last home game and there were 250 kids there.

“It was absolutely amazing. It’s like going back to the Brighton days with that real community spirit.

“The life and soul of the club is going to be the kids coming through.

“Parents are saying their kids can’t wait to come on Saturdays now.

“The social media stuff we have been doing as well is so clever.

“It’s no distraction. It’s two minutes for us after training.

“Every club does it and it is getting our profile up and the profile of the players.

“When the kids come to a game, they know every single player.”

Worthing are the better-placed of the two teams in the league and boss Adam Hinshelwood has made no secret of his wish for a good run in the FA Cup or Trophy.

Rebels gave selected players game time in a midweek friendly at Littlehampton.

Danny Cashman, the former Albion forward who signed recently after leaving Coventry City, scored in a 2-1 win.

Jake Robinson was also involved.

Steyning are looking forward to a huge test as they play hosts to Maidstone.

The tie has been made all-ticket and only a few remained as of yesterday.

Maidstone were relegated from the National League last season but there is still a three-division gap between the teams.

Hastings might fancy themselves for an upset as they visit a Dover side who are struggling in Vanarama National League south.
