Darren Currie is on the verge of rejoining Albion.

The Seagulls are hoping to wrap up a deal with Luton for the 33-year-old midfielder in the next few days.

The move to bring Currie back to Withdean has been complicated by relegated Luton's financial troubles.

The left-footed playmaker has a year left on his contract at Kenilworth Road but the Hatters have made all of their players available for transfer.

The Argus revealed in May Albion's interest in re-signing Currie, who was sold to Ipswich for a £250,000 profit in December 2004 after only 18 weeks with the Seagulls. Current boss Micky Adams signed him on loan for Coventry two years later.

Currie would be Adams' fifth capture of the summer, joining Colin Hawkins, Kevin McLeod, Adam Virgo and David Livermore as players with a Championship pedigree.
