Albion fans made themselves heard, according to local press in Marseille.

Almost 3,000 Seagulls supporters gave their side great backing amid an incessant cauldron of noise at the Stade Velodrome.

And it was noticed in a city, and country, where away support is not plentiful.

La Provence, one of two local daily newspapers in Marseille, carried a photo of the Albion section.

The caption said they made themselves heard, notably after the equaliser.

The Argus:

La Provence dedicated its first five pages to the game with a one-word front page headline: Frustrating.

Legendary national sports daily L’Equipe went for “Infuriating” and used a picture of Lewis Dunk blocking a Vitinha shot which appeared on many websites, including our own.

Both titles ran features on highly-rated right-back Jonathan Clauss, fresh from a recall by France.

They both felt he suffered at the hands of Tariq Lamptey and Kaoru Mitoma in the second half having got the better of them in the first.

But both newspapers felt Lamptey should have been sent off for his challenge which left Amine Harit with a heavy limp and bloody sock.
