THE youth section of a football club is using the power of the sport to bring people together and make it accessible for all

Seaford Town youth chairman Mike Greve is hoping a sponsored walk will help raise much needed funds, which will go towards new storage facilities with a tea hut, as well as a mini bus to help get the disability (All Inclusive) teams to their matches.

He said: “Having the All Inclusive (AI) team truly makes football accessible for everyone and they love their training and matches. You see how that love for football is helping them build team spirit and confidence, the same as all of our youth teams”.

“This is what the youth section is about and what football should be about, youngsters enjoying themselves and making friends while getting exercise in the fresh air”.

The Argus:

“We need facilities, storage for goals and equipment and we are looking at the possibility of getting a mini-bus to get the AI team to their games.

“We are setting up an AI tournament in December to give our players more opportunities to play matches. We really appreciate everyone’s support.”

Teams across the youth section will walk from Newhaven FC to Seaford Town on Saturday and have been getting sponsored already.

The AI team was set up for children who have a registered/recognised disability (physical or mental) or are struggling to access mainstream football. It provides a low-pressure environment to access football, meet new friends, gain confidence, have fun and be part of a club team.

The Argus:

Andy Ralph, Senior AI Coach said the fundraiser is vital to help the team develop

He said: “It means that our AI players will be able to get to more games, tournaments further afield than Lancing and compete against different disabilities team from across the UK and also build friendships with other likeminded players”

“With a better storage facility we can build as a team with more equipment and get more coaches onboard to build Seaford Town All Inclusive section, into a great place to play football with friends, the current storage facility lets in water and is damp, which in turn damages our equipment. This facility is too small for the number of teams who use it”.
