Albion played their best stuff against Fulham when the score was 0-0.

And they managed a late flurry of pressure after weathering Fulham’s best spell of the game.

This is how the home side performed in their 1-1 draw with the Cottagers.

As a team, it was perhaps a performance which felt better on more reflection after the initial frustration and disappointment had eased a little.

Jason Steele 7/10

Beaten by a fine strike but looked assured in awful conditions and made a sharp save from Muniz to prevent Fulham going ahead.

Adam Webster 7/10

After some tough weeks, he can be satisfied with a decent return to the action on the right of a three and almost won it with a second-half header.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

Seems to have an increasingly important passer, quarter-back type role. Went so close with a free-kick and generally did well in defence.

Igor 7/10

Offered the option of the back three and stepped in to start the move for Albion’s goal. They are having to make the best of their resources in this area of the pitch. He looks better on the left of a three than as left-back in a four.

Pascal Gross 6/10

Evan on an afternoon when he was not at his best, added an assist to the tally and almost had a second from a corner. But an errant pass led to Fulham’s equaliser.

Carlos Baleba 6.5/10

Started the game very strongly but was less of an influence as the second half progressed. Is not afraid to shoot and tested Leno with the first and best of his three attempts.

Simon Adingra 6/10

Should really have scored at the far post and did not offer the penetration or excitement we might have expected.

Mahmoud Dahoud 6/10

Was less of an influence in the second half after a really good first period. Started one fine move with some clever footwork.

Kaoru Mitoma 6/10

Always promises to add something and was involved in the late push for a winner but, across the 90, his end product was often a disappointment.

Adam Lallana 7/10

Was only ever going to play about an hour but some of his touches in the first half whetted the appetite for more we might see of him. Laid on a golden chance for Adingra.

Evan Ferguson 7/10

Scores very highly for a calm and confident finish as he guided his shot inside the post. That was the highlight of what was generally quite a quiet afternoon. Tried to catch out Leno at his near post later in the half.

SUBS – Ansu Fati 7/10

Again offered spark and variety in attacking areas. With a clear week ahead, could Everton be the scene of his first Prem start?

Facundo Buonanotte N/A

Tried to find a way through but was snuffed out.

Billy Gilmour N/A

Added some order and purpose to midfield.

Joel Veltman N/A

Enabled Albion to change shape and did the usual job at right-back.

Joao Pedro N/A

Made things happen and almost won it at the death.
