Jakub Moder’s expected return to the Albion matchday squad has been welcomed as “great news” by his boss.
Barring any late setback or change of plan, the Poland midfielder will be among the subs as the Seagulls face Sheffield United today.
He has not played in the Premier League since suffering a serious knee injury 19 months ago.
The setback also cost him a place at the World Cup a year ago.
He made his return a fortnight ago with half an hour for the under-21s against Arsenal.
He followed that with an impressive first-half performance as the 21s beat Aston Villa.
Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “He will be on the bench. That is great news.
“I don’t know if he will play one part of the game but he played last week with the under-21s.
“I watched the first half and he played very well.
“We are all happy for him.”
Albion will be glad of the extra midfield option with Pascal Gross likely to be used at full-back.
