Roberto De Zerbi says there will be no fast-track back to action for Ansu Fati.
The forward on loan from Albion is still expected to be out for three months.
He went off with a hamstring injury during the win at Nottingham Forest a fortnight ago.
De Zerbi said today: “The news about Ansu Fati is I think he needs three months from the day of injury.
“It is bad news for us because he was playing better, he was understanding better the idea.
“I am sorry for him, I am sorry for the team.”
Lewis Dunk and Mahmoud Dahoud return from suspension tomorrow as Albion face Burnley.
De Zerbi said: “Both are very important for us especially in this moment.
“We are spending a difficult period in terms of injuries and two more players is an important thing.”
Adam Lallana is also available but Adam Webster remains sidelined.
