Jensen Weir has been told he will have “a very good career” after his loan at Blackpool was cut short.

The Albion midfielder has been recalled from what was initially to be a season-long arrangement.

Weir’s game time has been limited in recent weeks but Blackpool boss Neil Critchley, previously development coach at Liverpool, says that need not be a setback in his progress.

Critchley said: “He needs to play more football. It’s not quite happened for him here for various different reasons.

"At this stage of his career he needs to play regularly, which is something we can’t offer him right now.

"Sometimes it’s down to circumstance. Loans are experiences.

“I had plenty at Liverpool, with under-21s players going out and not playing the football they wanted but it’s the best thing for them and they grow from it.

"We probably won’t see that benefit from Jensen’s development because in my opinion there’s no question he will go on to have a very good career.”

Albion are now assessing the next step for the 21-year-old, who made 16 appearances in all competitions for Blackpool.
