Plumpton made history with its inaugural Premier Raceday, featuring the BetGoodwin Sussex National, writes Emily Gailey.

It was a magnificent showcase of the best of British racing, creating an incredible atmosphere.

Racing was elevated to new heights, welcoming top-tier horses and Jockeys, setting the stage for an unforgettable day of high-stakes racing.

The main event, the BetGoodwin Sussex National Handicap, saw 11 horses and jockeys compete for glory.

Caoilin Quinn landed his second national in the space of 11 days aboard Dom of Mary for David Bridgewater, etching their names into the Plumpton history books for owner Mr P J Cave.

The BetGoodwin Tom Cannon Juvenile Hurdle was won in style by Through The Ages and Caoilin Quinn. Trained by Gary Moore and owned by Barry and Baroness Noakes.

Scarface got a first victory over fences to win The BetGoodwin Mike Cattermole Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase under Brendan Powell. Trained by Joe Tizzard for Mr K Leggett, Susan and John Waterworth.

The BetGoodwin Chris Gordon EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Limited Handicap was won by Walks Like A Man and Harry Cobden for trainer Anthony Charlton and owners Four Candles and Partners.

Transmission and Joe Anderson had the ride of the season, hanging on after a near fall to take the win in the most valuable race in Plumpton history, The BetGoodwin Sussex Stayers Handicap Hurdle, for Neil Mulholland and owner Mr Paul McKeon.

It was a photo finish in The BetGoodwin Hayley Turner Handicap Chase. Godot and Stan Sheppard took the win for Andy Irvine and owners The Reserve Tankers.

The final race, The Zoe Davison Memorial Handicap Hurdle was won by Alto Alto and Rex Dingle for Chris Gordon and owner Mrs C New.

The success of this Premier Raceday set the stage for continued excellence and cements Plumpton’s position as a premier destination.
