Just one week after its last fixture, Plumpton Racecourse welcomed back racegoers to watch the best of East Sussex’s local stars, and those from further afield.

Westerninthepark got his first start for Anthony Charlton to win the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Maiden Hurdle under Bradley Harris for owners the Box 8 Partnership and Avon Racing Ltd's Duhallow Tommy made it back-to-back wins at Plumpton under Ben Bromley to take the Weaatherbysshop.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase, after enjoying success at the course last week.

Trained by Toby Lawes for John Terry, Junkanoo had his first victory over hurdles as Caoilin Quinn guided the seven-year-old home in the Visit Irish Bloodstock Sales with ITM Novices’ Hurdle for trainer Gary Moore and owners Jacob’s Construction and Mr J Harley.

Ilovethenightlife stormed home under Brendan Powell to win the Blue Bell Emsworth Giles 40th Birthday Handicap Hurdle for Joe Tizzard and owners Geoff Nicholas, Susan and John Waterworth.

Morfee did one better than his last run at Plumpton to win the William Hill Daily Bet Boost Handicap Steeple Chase under James Best for trainer Seamus Mullins, owned by Mrs Ann Leftley.

Good Lord and Gavin Sheehan took the final race of the day, the William Hill Lengthen Your Odds Handicap Hurdle for Billy Aphrahamian and owners Pury Racing.

Plumpton’s next fixture is in two weeks’ time on Monday, February 12 for the Strong Flavours Raceday.
