Ed Turns has been told it is time to get more regular first-team football.

The Albion defender has been recalled from his loan with Leyton Orient and signed a similar deal at Crewe in League Two.

Turns, 21, had returned to Orient after helping them win promotion from the fourth tier last term.

He has only had 11 minutes of playing time in the last month and Albion pathway development manager Gordon Greer wants to see him featuring more regularly.

Greer said: “Ed enjoyed a really good 2023 with Leyton Orient, playing his part in their promotion, but he hasn’t featured in recent months.

“At Ed’s stage in his career, it’s important that he’s playing regular first team football and we hope to see him get that with Crewe. We will monitor his progress closely.”

Crewe are in the thick of the promotion race, in fifth place and just one point off the top three.

Turns, who comes from Hassocks, could find himself partnering the vastly experienced Mickey Demetriou, from Worthing, at the back.
