Albion had two good periods at Tottenham, before their goal and after the hosts' first.

At other times they were on the back foot against a Spurs side who felt they owed the Seagulls one.

But they were always resolute and always had an eye to get out on the attack.

Jason Steele 8/10

Returned in place of the unfortunate Verbruggen and did well. Made strong saves from Richarlison and Kulusevski in the first half and was good with the ball at his feet.

Tariq Lamptey 7/10

Was given a few problems defensively by Werner but caused a few going the other way. Played further forward in the later stages and got into some good areas.

Lewis Dunk 6/10

Was unlucky on the first goal and did some good defending while also finding Richarlison a slippery adversary at times with his skills and movement. The way Albion play meant neither centre-back was anywhere near the action as that final cross came in from Son.

Jan Paul van Hecke 8.5/10

Another huge effort defensively, which included periods well forward looking for Maddison. Made a great covering challenge on Richarlison at one point and continues to be good in possession, the best example being his pass ahead of the Mitoma chance.

Pervis Estupinan 6/10

Restored to the left-back berth and probably did his best work in that period after the equaliser. The focus will be on that moment which decided the game.

Pascal Gross 7.5/10

Won the ball back for the penalty and then converted. His brilliant playmaking set up that Ansu chance and he generally had a good game.

Billy Gilmour 7/10

Produced one of the passes of the match, right in front of the away fans, but was also caught out a couple of times in vulnerable areas and had been attracted forward when Sarr ran free for the equaliser.

Facundo Buonanotte 6/10

Unfortunate to see a shot deflect narrowly wide, although he might have passed to Lamptey, and played a part in the move for the penalty. But we did not really see enough of him on the ball.

Adam Lallana 6/10

Given perhaps a surprise start but we know what he can do and is a better option from the kick-off rather than going on as sub. Played some nice stuff at times in the No.10 berth.

Kaoru Mitoma 7/10

Great to see him back and he was always a potential threat. His first contribution to the game was actually a tackle but we know what he is really there for. Was denied by Vicario (but should he have passed rather than shot?), set up a great chance for Ansu and did some thrilling work before the Buonanotte near miss.

Danny Welbeck 8/10

Set the tone inside the first few seconds with an effort which Vicario saved and later forced the penalty with good footwork. His well-timed pressing was also at the root of the Mitoma chance although he clearly expected a return pass. Gave Spurs a few problems.

SUBS - Ansu Fati 6/10

The first to come off the bench and remains something of an enigma. Scuffed a great chance wide and did some good work when Buonanotte almost scored.

Joel Veltman, Carlos Baleba, Benecio Baker-Boaitey – N/A

Late entries into the action.
