Absent head coach Roberto De Zerbi played a significant part in Albion’s match at Tottenham.
Andrea Maldera and staff kept in close contact with De Zerbi, who was banned from the touchline and watched from afar after having invasive dental surgery in the last few days.
Maldera said: “Roberto was all the match in contact with us.
“In the first half not too much because the match was easy to read.
“But at half-time I spoke with him. He gave to me and to the team some suggestions.
“In the second half the substitutions arrived from him because he is watching the match on TV.
“There was communication always from the bench to him.
“The substitutions are his idea because he is always in contact with us.”
