Valentin Barco is heading to Albion on a high.

The recent signing played a major part in helping his country reach the Olympics and knock out their arch rivals.

Barco’s superb cross from the left led to the only goal, on 77 minutes, as Argentina under-23s beat Brazil in the final round of the CONMEBOL Olympic qualifying tournament in Venezuela.

He whipped in a delicious left-footed, outswinging, dipping delivery which was headed home by Argentinos Juniors forward Luciano Gondou.

Barco was named in Javier Mascherano’s starting XI after serving a one-match ban.

He almost rubber-stamped the win deep in added time when he shot against the post.

The Olympic football tournament runs from July 24 until August 10 and coincides with Albion’s pre-season.

The final takes place a week before the start of the new Prem season.

It is likely Facundo Buonanotte will also be keen to take part for Argentina.

Barco now turns his attention to settling in with the Seagulls after completing a $10 million move from Boca Juniors last month.
