Lewis Dunk has been told he can play for England at Euro 2024 – after a big finish to Albion’s season.

The Seagulls host Everton today with Roberto De Zerbi demanding a run of wins to take them into a hectic run-in.

Their forthcoming schedule includes a Europa League last-16 tie with Roma after Albion were paired with the Serie A giants in yesterday’s draw.

De Zerbi believes Dunk, who potentially faces a battle with Dominic Calvert-Lewin today, can continue his European adventures into the summer.

The head coach said: “The surprise of Lewis Dunk is week by week he is improving.

“At his age, he is not so young but his behaviour is incredible.

“I spoke with him last week and I told him the improvement is big.

“He is one of the secrets of Brighton.

“I hope for him he can play this summer in European competition for England because I think he is ready.

“I don’t want to give any advice or anything but I hope for him because it would be great news for us, for Brighton, for me, for the players of Brighton. I think he can be ready.

“I think he is enjoying playing football. He has a big passion for football and this is the best quality of Lewis.

“He has a technique of a midfielder, he is able to command the play from the back. He is a complete player.”

Albion have won two of their last three games but De Zerbi wants more.

He added: “We need to think about winning because in March the Europa League starts again and if we want to keep the same place in the table we have to win and keep this level.”
