Nuno Espirito Santo believes Jakub Moder should have been red-carded for his challenge at the Amex, writes Carlos Acosta Juckes.

The Forest manager was furious after Moder went in for a tackle and caught Neco Williams’ ankle.

After a thorough check from VAR, the decision to show a yellow card was confirmed.

But Nuno said: “It’s a red card, it’s a serious mistake.

“Having an extra player makes a big difference. We were on top of the game, we were dominating, we were creating problems to Brighton and it’s a bad decision of VAR.

“I don’t judge only the referee but I saw the image, it’s a clear red card and it’s week after week that they are (mouthed f-word) us, week after week.

“They apologised to us, doesn’t mean anything because it’s costing us and we are in a tough position. We need respect, period.”

Nuno did not hold back when talking about poor decision-making from the VAR and referees - from his point of view.

He added: “We have to wait, they apologise, everybody is aware of the mistakes. I’m trying to be honest and trying to keep myself calm, be respectful, but I think it’s enough.

“Why Paul Tierney gave possession to Liverpool [at Forest], why against Newcastle we get a penalty and then they didn’t give us. Please someone tell me what’s going on. Why always us? What’s going on?

“I understand, I arrived in England some years ago, six or seven. The referees were amazing, I understand that suddenly they lost a group of referees, very strong and experienced and now new referees coming, they need time and sympathy to become better and judge better. But we don’t have time, we are professional.

“We come to a point that we try to understand, we don’t judge them, terrible mistakes costing us points. You go into the dressing room and say ‘let’s keep on going’ but it is enough. We want better decisions.”
