Albion were good on the night but not quite good enough over two legs against Roma.

This is how we felt they performed as individuals amid a team effort which showed good shape and energy.

Bart Verbruggen 7/10

Not really tested although his woodwork was struck once. Passed the ball out from the back pretty well, especially with his longer ball drilled in to Welbeck ahead of the goal.

Tariq Lamptey 7/10

An enterprising presence down the right and he helped add some attacking options, which was the main reason for his selection. Unlucky to be booked but it is great to see him putting a run of games together.

Jan Paul van Hecke 8/10

Saved his side a goal with his willingness to put his head in as Azmoun scored with an overhead flick which probably should have counted. Did his defensive job and strode forward with menace in the chase for another goal, showing a range of qualities. Probably should have scored with at least one header.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

Really assured this time against an all-changed Rome front-line on a night when Albion certainly could not afford to concede. Covered diligently and kept possession alive when Roma looked to counter. Was looking at times for the longer pass to get in behind.

Pervis Estupinan 7/10

Closer to what we expect as he charged forward from the first minute. On song, he allows Albion to play the shape which best suits them.

Billy Gilmour 7/10

Busy in midfield, playing short, sharp passes. Had a couple of sights of goal in the first half which he sent off target.

Pascal Gross 7/10

His crossing was not always as pinpoint as it can be but should have brought at least one goal, although Roma closed him down well in open play at times. Dragged a first-half shot wide after working some room and later delayed too long when Ferguson teed him up.

Simon Adingra 6.5/10

Maybe surprising to see him start on the right given the problems he caused right-back Celik in Rome. But he kept Spinazzola busy and his movement infield got him into great area from which he should have scored at least once.

Adam Lallana 7.5/10

The right selection in the No.10 berth and it was a shame to see him have to leave the action. Produced some nice touches to work room for others and was an irritant to Roma before sprinting off on the hour mark.

Julio Enciso 6/10

Easy to stay he is not back at his sparkling best but he caused Roma some discomfort at times, including the early yellow card for Mancini. Played a nice little reverse pass ahead of the goal.

Danny Welbeck 8/10

Offered Roma a few problems and re-ignited the tie with his fabulous, measured finish. Might have let fly earlier in the half after a good move but his link-up play and movement were a joy to watch, including in the move for the goal.

SUBS – Ansu Fati 7/10

Very mixed end product but the best of it was really good. Was heavily involved in some dangerous moments but also wasted possession on occasion.

Facundo Buonanotte 6/10

Got into decent areas after going on as the No.10 but without the end product.

Igor 7/10

Much better than in the first leg, in different circumstances, and was among those to test Svilar.

Evan Ferguson 6/10

Sent on for the last half-hour against a defence who are vulnerable against crosses but he did not really get a chance. Produced a nice lay-off from which Gross should have let fly.

Carlos Baleba N/A

On for the closing stages.
