Roberto De Zerbi praised Alexis Mac Allister after he helped send Albion to defeat.
The Argentina midfielder shone in the Liverpool midfield and set up Mo Salah for the winning goal in a 2-1 success.
De Zerbi has made no secret of his admiration for Mac Allister as a player and a person.
He said: “I think he became a great player.
“The assist for the second goal was incredible and I am happy and proud for him because I worked with him and he deserves to be an important player in a big team.”
Mac Allister swapped shirts with Pascal Gross after the game, then went across to the away section to exchange applause with the Albion fans.
