A girls' football team are set to represent the city on the international stage as they head to compete in a competition in Sweden.
Brighton and Hove District School Girls under 12s will be heading to compete in the Gothia Youth World Cup, one of the largest youth football competitions in the world.
The invitation comes after a bumper year of success for the team who are set to play back-to-back cup finals in May.
The team, who also won the National Cup in 2023, have been fundraising to help finance the trip to Gothenburg in July.
They have so far raised over £1,200 of their £1,500 goal.
Coach Tim Herbert said: “I’m so proud of the team’s sporting achievements but mostly about how they have come together.
“It’s been fantastic to see the girls take it into their own hands to raise enough money so that all their teammates can afford to go to Sweden and represent the city in such a fantastic world class event.”
Brighton will also play in two finals in May as they prepare to face Tunbridge in the South of England regional cup in Maidstone.
The team will also travel to Stoke City’s Bet365 Stadium to face Liverpool in the National Championship.
