Bart Verbruggen will face Arsenal at the Amex as he makes a FIFTH successive start in goal for Albion.

But Roberto De Zerbi says he is continuing to decide on his keepers on a match-by-match basis.

The head coach says Verbruggen is improving in areas including his build-up play, which was where Jason Steele held a clear edge.

But he has not forgotten the part Steele has played this season and last.

Verbruggen’s late stop from Mo Salah at Anfield last Sunday has been shortlisted for the Premier League save of the month award - for which votes can be cast by clicking here.

But his current run in the side is about more than shot-stopping alone.

De Zerbi said: “I continue to manage the keepers as I have done but tomorrow Verbruggen plays.

“He is playing very well, he is improving a lot but I can’t forget Jason because, if we played in the Europa League this season, a big credit is of Jason.

“I could change one goalkeeper for Premier League, one in Europa League, but I didn’t want to change so clear because I believe in both and because they are different keepers.

“Now Bart is improving in build-up and he is becoming great but Jason as well has played very well, especially in the first part of the season.

“He gave us a lot of points in the first part of the season – and, as well, Bart made a lot of mistakes against Bournemouth, against Liverpool at home.

“But we believe in Bart. I think Bart can reach the first level of European football because he is amazing.

“But I don’t like to forget what my players did in the past and I usually give respect also in my decision.”
