Roberto De Zerbi hopes to work with his two former Liverpool stars next season.

The Albion head coach believes Adam Lallana can continue in the Premier League.

He has been disappointed not to see more of his fellow former Anfield favourite James Milner.

But he pointed out Milner played a big part in arguably Albion’s best tactical display this term, when they beat Tottenham despite having no specialist wingers or full-backs.

Both Lallana and Milner are out of contract in June.

De Zerbi said: “I think Adam can play another season for sure.

“The problem is the behaviour of Adam, because Adam loves playing every game and is an incredible professional, but I have to manage him in a different way as with James Milner.

“I would like to work next season with both players, because they are crucial to the improvement of Brighton for young players and they are crucial on the pitch.

"James Milner was fantastic against Tottenham at home (in December). Unfortunately, he is having a tough season (with injuries) and he has been unlucky.

“In the last period, Adam Lallana has been available every week. After that I decided a different way, but against Roma at home, away to Manchester (United) at the beginning of the season, at Brentford he played very well for 65 minutes.

“They are both high level characters.”

Jack Hinshelwood is among the players likely to learn from Lallana and Milner.

De Zerbi said: “Jack’s a smart guy. He plays with passion, he is very young but physically he can play in the Premier League and in a good way.

“He has always played very well this season and I am sorry for his injury.

“He can play in every position - left-back, right-back. He has been important when he has played."
