Albion have been backed to make their latest stadium dream a reality – as they prepare for a big night at the Amex.

The Seagulls’ women’s team play at the venue for the second time this season when they take on Everton in the Barclays FA WSL this evening (7pm).

Albion continue to investigate the possibility of a dedicated stadium for their women, something no European club has as yet done.

BERGSVAND: SEASON HAS BEEN A ROLLER COASTER

Interim Albion head coach Mikey Harris (pictured) said: “It would be incredible for the football club, incredible for the women’s first team.

“I know it is something the club are really working hard to try and make happen.

“We know these things don’t happen overnight, they are very complicated, laborious processes.

“We have got to be patient in that regard.

“I DO believe it will happen.

“When this football club and the chairman (Tony Bloom) and (chief executive) Paul Barber say they are going to do something, they do.

“Until we reach that point, I think it is important to make the most of wherever we are, whether that’s at Crawley, at the Amex, because we can only deal with the moment we are in.

“We have to be aware we have got a responsibility to perform and to entertain because that helps with the next part.

“That is our responsibility as staff and players.

“We are aware of that. We want to entertain, we want to perform, we want to win so we can help grow the club and move it forward.”

Albion are continuing to search for the right site for a WSL stadium and have identified about 30 differences between stadia which are built specifically for use by female teams and mainly female spectators compared to even a modern venue like the Amex.

Backing from Bloom and the local authority would be key to getting any scheme off the ground.

In the longer term, they could even look to both their first teams using the Amex, with some modifications, should things really take off for the women at a new home.

Barber said: “It is about building not only our brand as a football club but our attractiveness to players.”

Maria Thorisdottir is available to face Everton after injury, as are Pauline Bremer and Dejana Stefanovic, but Vicky Losada misses out through suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card in the recent 0-0 draw at West Ham.

Tickets remain available via the club website. Adult tickets are priced £12, and under-18/65+ are £6. Family tickets are £24, and discounted tickets are available for groups of ten or more.
