Valentin Barco is in the running for a place in the Argentina squad at the Copa America.
But hopes have faded for his Albion colleague Facundo Buonanotte.
Barco is in a 29-man squad for friendlies in the USA against Ecuador and Guatemala next month.
Lional Scaloni will then reduce that group to 26 for the tournament.
There appear to be 21 certainties for the final cut, including former Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
Barco looks to be competing for one of the five remaining spots.
Buonanotte is on a standby list which also includes, most notably, Paulo Dybala.
The final list for the Copa must be submitted by June 15 before Argentina go into a group with Chile, Canada and Peru.
