Kieran McKenna today remained bookies’ favourite to be named as Albion’s new head coach.

But that hasn’t stopped punters backing the Ipswich Town boss to head south.

Oddschecker have McKenna as the 4/6 favourite in the betting.

He has taken 62% of the total bet share for the next Albion manager.

McKenna currently heads departing OGC Nice boss Francesco Farioli (11/2), Southampton’s Brighton-based Russell Martin (10/1), Burnley’s Vincent Kompany (16/1) and former Albion head coach Graham Potter (16/1).

Oddschecker’s Leon Blackman said: “It looks like it’s going to be a nervy start to the summer transfer window for Ipswich fans, as Kieran McKenna continues to get linked with managerial roles elsewhere.

“The latest odds position McKenna as the 4/6 odds-on favourite to replace Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, giving him a 60% implied probability of being the next manager at the Amex.”

Sources in Amsterdam remain confident Farioli will take over at Ajax.

An Argus contact closely following Ajax said: “An agreement seems a matter of time, although some things still have to be discussed, for example about his staff.”

A deal between Ajax and Nice is not likely to be a problem.
