Fabian Huerzeler has done his homework on Albion’s squad.

But he will have two senior members of Roberto De Zerbi’s coaching staff to help him settle in.

Andrew Crofts and goalkeeper specialist Jack Stern will be part of his technical set-up.

Other members of Huerzeler’s staff will be confirmed but there is an indication from Germany that he will bring in a coach who is currently with a club other than St Pauli.

Albion technical director David Weir said: “We will work closely with Fabian to help him settle in, and to get to know the club, staff and the area.

“Fabian already has an excellent knowledge of our squad and players, and we will be working to strengthen an already very strong squad during the transfer window.

“We will confirm all of Fabian's immediate backroom staff in due course, although Andrew Crofts and Jack Stern will be part of that coaching group, as first-team coach and goalkeeping coach respectively.”

The delay in confirming Huerzeler's full back-up team is in line with what happened when Roberto De Zerbi was appointed in 2022.
