Albion fans were given a glimpse of what is to come as their side enjoyed another pre-season win.
Danny Welbeck converted a penalty forced by Yankuba Minteh to secure a 1-0 friendly success at QPR.
The Seagulls now prepare to face Villarreal at the Amex on Saturday.
Minteh, on target in both games in Tokyo, defended from the front to win the ball back ahead of the spot kick.
That sort of pressing work will be a big part of the masterplan under Fabian Huerzeler’s guidance.
Albion’s head coach told The Argus: “That was a good example.
“We had a lot of ball wins in their half, good transition moments. If you win the ball high, you control the game. I think we controlled the game.
“We kept them in their half. It was a step forward.”
Huerzeler said he expects to see Lewis Dunk back early this week after his post-Euros holiday and Billy Gilmour is also expected to train with the squad in the coming days.
Julio Enciso went off injured as Paraguay under-23s suffered defeat on penalties against Egypt in the Olympic quarter-finals, but indications are that the problem is not serious.
Huerzeler said: “Of course I prefer that everyone will be fit but that’s football.
“The team works hard, the individual players work hard.
“I like that attitude from them, I like the character and how they have the willingness to improve.
“I am sure we will be further in our development next week.”
