Steven Alzate is expected to sign a deal in the Championship after parting company with Albion.
The Colombia midfielder is likely to be announced by Hull City as free agent signing.
Alzate was let go by the Seagulls in the summer having spent the last two seasons on loan at Standard Liege.
Hull have drawn three and lost one of their first four games and will look for their first win when they play Sheffield United next Friday.
That gives Alzate almost a week in which to get up to speed with his new boss Tim Walter, the German who succeeded Liam Rosenior in the summer.
Carl Rushworth is on loan with the Tigers and their squad also includes former Albion under-23s midfielder Ryan Longman.
Ex-Seagulls striker Aaron Connolly parted company with Hull in the summer and remains a free agent.
