Joao Pedro has been told he is a big part of Brazil’s plans.
The Albion star was called in by head coach Dorival Junior after Flamengo forward Pedro withdrew through injury.
Brazil are in Asuncion this week to face Paraguay in a World Cup qualifier which will end at about 3.30am on Wednesday, our time.
Along with Julio Enciso, he will then face a rush back ahead of Albion's game at home to Ipswich on Saturday.
Joao Pedro slipped out of the Brazil squad during and after his injury last season.
Dorival said: “He was very close to being called up again.
“He has been improving, he deserved an opportunity, as others are deserving.”
Joao Pedro was an unused sub as Brazil won 1-0 at home Ecuador.
