Fabian Huerzeler said his Albion team did all they could to beat Ipswich.
The Seagulls were held to a 0-0 draw at the Amex.
Arijanet Muric made four decent saves in the first half, the best of them to thwart Kaoru Mitoma – who should have scored.
Danny Welbeck, Georginio Rutter and Evan Ferguson all went close after the break.
Ipswich might have nicked a counter-attacking winner when Liam Delap hit the post after a long solo run.
Albion boss Huerzeler said: “I think my team did everything on the pitch to win this game.
“We defended good, we had enough chances to score, we were good in counter-pressing, we were very dominant.
“That is why it feels disappointing but, in the end, I will never judge my team on the results.
“I will judge them by the performance.
“I think there are still things we can improve but we try to follow the process, we try to improve every day.
“There is still a time here we have to adapt.
“There is still a time when we have to integrate the new players and we do it step by step.”
