Fabian Huerzeler said Albion made “easy mistakes” in their Carabao Cup tie with Wolves.
But he was happy the first half which sent them on their way to a 3-2 success at the Amex.
The Seagulls lost their way after going into a 2-0 lead through Carlos Baleba and Simon Adingra.
Huerzeler said a poor goal conceded to Goncalo Guedes just before half-time changed the course of the game.
But a late strike by Ferdi Kadioglu offered insurance for the final moments.
Head coach Huerzeler said: “We played a very good first half until the 44th minute.
“I think it’s a goal we should never concede.
“After the initial moment, it’s lazy transition reaction from us.
“It is something we can’t accept.
“It is something that is against our identity and that we need to learn from this most quickly.
“We can’t do this because it won’t help you win games.
“In the second half, of course Wolves tried everything to score a second goal.
“We made silly mistakes and made too easy mistakes.
“We weren’t clean and clear like we were in the first.
“With the third goal from us, I think the game was decided.”
