Peter Bankes will take charge of Albion’s game at Chelsea – with Michael Oliver as his video assistant.
Bankes, who comes from Liverpool, will be reffing his fourth game this season and his second in the Premier League.
It will be a rapid return to West London after he took charge of Fulham’s 3-1 win over Newcastle last Saturday.
Bankes has shown 16 yellow cards and no reds in his three games to date.
That represents a return to action after he was sidelined from early December last season.
He was in charge at the Amex when the Seagulls defeated Brentford 2-1.
Fans might also recall him sending off Lewis Dunk after VAR intervention at Old Trafford three seasons ago.
He refereed Albion’s 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace two seasons ago.
Oliver will be assisting from Stockley Park while David Webb will be keeping order on the touchline as fourth official.
Robert Jones, who was in the spotlight at the Amex on Sunday, has been handed fourth official duties at Newcastle’s home game against Manchester City.
Oliver’s middle this weekend, after his eventful afternoon in charge of Manchester City and Arsenal last Sunday, will be the South Coast duel between Bournemouth and Southampton.
The full officiating team for Chelsea v Albion is as follows.
Referee: Peter Bankes. Assistants: Eddie Smart, Nick Greenhalgh. Fourth official: David Webb. VAR: Michael Oliver. Assistant VAR: Natalie Aspinall.
