Radio presenter Andy Jacobs told listeners he thought a Chelsea free-kick against Albion was too far out for Cole Palmer to try a shot.
He was proved wrong. But it turned out he should have been right.
The Chelsea fan said on TalkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs Show that he had told his grandson the free-kick was too far out to shoot.
Palmer fired home a free-kick from ten yards outside the penalty area to complete his hat-trick as the Seagulls were beaten 4-2.
The foul by Pervis Estupinan took place just a few yards beyond the centre circle – up to ten yards further back.
Palmer’s free-kick was unerring and left Bart Verbruggen grasping at thin air.
But even the England star might have struggled to score had the ball been spotted up where the foul took place.
Adam Webster’s efforts to cover across probably saved Estupinan from a red card.
