Albion have been handed their 2025-26 Premier League schedule and a few things stand out.
MOMENT OF HISTORY
Albion will be the first Premier League visitors to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the new riverside home of Everton, after fixtures were revealed this morning.
They kicked off the Toffees’ final season at Goodison Park last year and enjoyed a 3-0 win.
In fact, Albion have won their opening away league game in each of the last six seasons – four of those being by three-goal margins.
Everton have a high-profile friendly against Roma before that.
The nature of the occasion suggests this is a fixture which could well be picked up by broadcasters to show live.
We expect the first set of re-arrangements to be confirmed on July 9, although that date is itself provisional.
WORLD CUP HANGOVER?
Manchester City will be the second visitors to the Amex as they head south towards the end of August.
One wonders what state the former champions will be in after this unprecedented summer at the FIFA World Club Cup.
They used to have a knack of starting seasons quite slowly and mounting an irresistible charge to the line to win the title.
Last year, they did it differently, taking 23 points from the first nine games and then falling away.

The FIFA tournament opens a new dimension to summer planning for teams involved.
Let’s see how City are in late August.
Albion visit World Cup competitors Chelsea on September 27 but one would imagine any effects of a different summer would be out of the Blues’ system by then.
PALACE AFTER EUROPE
Albion's trip to Crystal Palace is listed as Saturday, November 8 but there are Europa League games on the Thursday just before that.
One realises it is a moot point at the moment but it would appear that game at Selhurst Park would be pushed back one way or another.
Working on the basis that Palace WILL get the green light from UEFA, it might not be the worst time to visit them.
One might add there are also Conference League games on Thursday, November 6.
A HIGH-STAKES AWAY FINALE?
How do you fully analyse the fixtures when one does not really know how teams will be shaping up?
The trip to Elland Road in the penultimate round could be for a celebratory occasion among the white-hot Leeds United faithful.
Or it could be a high-stakes match for them to stay up - as it was three seasons ago.

The common consensus seems to be Leeds stand the best chance of survival among the promoted trio.
In terms of relegation, Betfair have released prices this morning of Sunderland 2/9, Burnley 7/20, Leeds 8/11, Wolves 7/2.
Wolves are the penultimate visitors of the season to the Amex.
Manchester United arrive on the last day of the season (as in 2023-24) so there should be no problem with the post-match lap of appreciation this time.
ON THE ROAD
Albion ended their two-year wait for a London win when they ran riot at Tottenham last month.
There is a double-bill of action in the capital around Christmas and New Year with trips to Arsenal and nearby West Ham.
Spurs is again near the end of the season and that will be light relief as the campaign ends with four long trips out of five – to Sunderland, Burnley, Newcastle and Leeds (which will seem relatively local by that stage).
The five midweek rounds include two away games – at Aston Villa and Manchester City.
