Chelsea are the latest club reported to be interested in Joao Pedro.
But there has been no suggestion of a bid from the renowned West London plunderers of talent on the Sussex coast.
The Brazil forward’s name remains in headlines and social media posts after he missed the final five games of last season.
There is no indication as to whether Albion have received an offer for his services.
But Newcastle, who were keen on him at the time he moved from Watford to Albion two years ago, are keen on him among a handful of potential targets.
Transfer tweeter Fabrizio Romano has suggested Chelsea have Joao Pedro in mind for their summer market.
Without committing himself too much, Romano told his followers Joao Pedro is “one of the targets on their shortlist for this summer, highly appreciated.”
That came a few days after Igor Julio said in Brazil that his colleague and compatriot wants to live in London.
While Romano has been keeping Joao Pedro’s name prominent, he has also been vague with his wording
Meanwhile the player has posted pictures of himself training and relaxing with friends on holiday in Brazil.
Fabian Hurzeler was keen to highlight Joao Pedro’s value and potential when he spoke near the end of last season.
He spoke about how Albion had “invested” in him and added: “Joao is still a young player and there's still a lot of potential where he will grow, and I'm sure that he will learn from this and come back strong next season.
'On the list' - what we have been told about reported Napoli bid for Albion man
This comparison should tell Albion fans what they want to know about Diego Coppola
“I'm really looking forward to see him renewed and reinvigorated at his highest peak for us and that's all what I will say on this.”
Since then, Albion have pulled off the near £30 million signing of versatile Greek forward Charalampos Kostoulas.
The Daily Telegraph have been the most persistent reporters of Newcastle’s interest.
Even their updates appear to have stalled although they reported this week that Toon were “on the verge of opening talks”.
A well-placed source closer to Albion offered no comment regarding any bid for Joao Pedro.
