Albion are believed to have been in talks with Newcastle United over Joao Pedro – amid a report of a verbal bid.
But there is no suggestion the clubs are close to any agreement which would send the Brazilian star to Tyneside.
Joao Pedro has been working hard to maintain fitness as well as enjoying some holiday in Rio De Janeiro while speculation over his future continues.
Newcastle are known to be keen on him as part of a revamp of their forward line – with or without Alexander Isak.
They this week had a £45 million offer for Anthony Elanga rejected by Nottingham Forest.
It is understood Newcastle have been in communication with Albion this week over Joao Pedro.
But it is not thought they would go to the £60 million fee widely being reported as Albion’s likely minimum asking price.
The Daily Telegraph report a “bid” for Joao Pedro but further examination reveals the clubs are believed to have “verbally discussed bids of around £50 million”.

There is no suggestion of a more formal offer but indications in the North East are that Toon would bring in both Elanga and Joao Pedro were the prices to be right.
Joao Pedro has been working with personal trainer Rodrigo Goncalves in Rio as he prepares for pre-season.
Albion’s message is that they see him as a matchwinner and look forward to seeing him return reinvigorated.
