Albion’s under-21s will face Luton Town – two years after the seniors played them in the Premier League.

The young Seagulls have been drawn in an EFL Vertu Trophy group with the Hatters along with Barnet and Cambridge United.

As per previous seasons, Albion will play their three group fixtures away from home.

Fixtures get under way in September.

Shannon Ruth’s side progressed to the knockout stages two season ago, where they beat Reading’s senior squad in a penalty shoot-out.

This time they will face a Luton side who will be expected to be challengers in League One after successive relegations from the Prem.

Roberto De Zerbi’s senior side lost 4-0 at Kenilworth Road in the Prem just 18 months ago.

Barnet have just returned to the EFL after beating Adam Hinshelwood’s York City to the National League title.

Cambridge will also be in the fourth tier in the coming season having been relegated from League One in 23rd spot last term.

The customary Trophy set-up will see group stages played over 90 minutes with a penalty shoot-out being staged for an extra point when matches end as draws.

Crawley Town are in a group with a strong League One pair in Leyton Orient and Peterborough as well as Aston Villa under-21s.
