Jack Hinshelwood did not make the opening match versus Fulham after his pre-season was interrupted by injury.
The midfielder did some work last week and was present at the Amex as the Seagulls were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham.
Albion now prepare to face Everton in the first league fixture at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler said after the Fulham game: “He trained, but he didn't train fully this week or last week, so we try to give him now next week where he can really step into the team.
“Then it's a competition, we have a lot of players in this position, but overall we're very happy to have Jack, and I'm sure when he's fully back that he will be an important part for us.”

Carlos Baleba returned after a knee issue to face Fulham but was not ready to go the full 90 minutes after a four-week absence.
Hinshelwood has a very brief summer break after helping England win the Under-21 Euros in Slovakia.
He quickly joined pre-season training with his club and played 45 minutes in each of the two friendlies in Marbella.
However, he missed run-outs against Southampton and Wolfsburg and Albion will be keeping a keen eye on his return to action.
