Nottingham Forest will assess Morgan Gibbs-White before picking a team to face Albion.

But Sean Dyche suggested the influential midfielder could well make Sunday's clash (2.05pm), despite a back complaint

The Forest boss said: “Hopefully it’s settling down. We’re not expecting at this stage that it’s too serious. We’re hopeful he will be right for the weekend.”

Dyche kept key players well rested ahead of Albion’s trip to the City Ground.

His much-changed side eased past Malmo 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

That was with an XI showing seven changes to that which kicked off the 3-0 win at Liverpool last Saturday.

Matz Sels, Nicolo Savona, Neco Williams, Elliot Anderson, Dan Ndoye, Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus all dropped out.

Dyche brought in John Victor, Morato, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Ryan Yates, James McAtee and Zach Abbott.

Kalimuendo, one of the strikers reportedly being eyed by Roma to compete with or replace Evan Ferguson, was among the scorers.

Anderson, Ndoye and Jesus joined the action around the midway point of the second half and Williams followed on 74 minutes.

Gibbs-White added to an already significant absentee list, including Chris Wood, Dilane Bakwa, Douglas Luiz, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Taiwo Awoniyi, Angus Gunn, Aaron Bott and Ola Aina.

Forest were not overly extended and will now turn their attention towards the visit of the Seagulls and the quest for a fourth successive wins in all competitions.

They have gone 257 minutes since conceding a goal.

Dyche said: “The mentality we are trying to build here is one game at a time. I have never lost sight of that.

“Every game is important to me, and every game should be important to the team. You don’t have to constantly look at tables when you are winning games.

“We have laid down some really good markers for us.

“It was important for some of the players to get minutes. I’m pleased for the players getting fitter and sharper, for those who need it.

“There were some really good performances.”

Fabian Hurzeler got the better of Dyche when he made his debut as Albion boss away to Everton on the opening day of last season.

But he is fully aware of the threat Forest pose.

Hurzeler said: “They know how to win games. They have a very effective style of play.

“They have very experienced players on the pitch.

“The players we faced last season are still there, so they have big individual quality. Their individual players are improving.

“They have key players for sure. Especially Elliot Anderson, he is doing well. Gibbs-White is a key player. They have big potential.

“Also, in their frontline they have a lot of individual quality, with good players who can attack the defence no matter who it is.”
