SUBSTITUTE Noah Stewart made a dream start to his Welling United career after coming on to score a debut winner against ten-man Whitehawk.
In just the second minute, Taufee Skandari’s foul on John Ufuah earned the Hawks defender a yellow card. He was punished further when Lewis Gard picked out Lekan Majoyegbe with the free-kick and the centre-back headed home the opener.
Then, midway through the first period, another poor Skandari foul on Ufuah meant a second yellow card and an early bath for the visitors’ full-back.
Dean Gunner’s header hit the bar in first-half stoppage time, however it was the visitors who drew first blood in the second period.
An almighty scramble in the penalty area ended with Harry Lodovica scrambling the equaliser over the line.
Stewart was introduced just past the hour mark and within seven minutes of coming on, he became a Welling hero.

Troy Howard’s acrobatic overhead kick wrong-footed the Whitehawk defence and the young striker read it perfectly and fired home from eight yards.
Despite a lot of huffing and puffing, neither side created much more until the closing minutes when the Hawks goalkeeper, Lennon MacLorg, twice saved his side from a heavier defeat.
Firstly, he got down and held on well to a Sam Smith free-kick destined for the bottom corner, then the Sussex club’s No.1 came out quickly to block from Ade Azeez, who had been played through by Smith.
