Albion stood firm over their star winger despite summer bids from Liverpool.
He is due back in action in the coming weeks and has spoken about his situation with Fabian Hurzeler.
The Albion head coach said: “He wears the Brighton colours. He wears the Brighton badge.
“He was part for two years now of the squad and achieved great things together with the boys, and therefore it's also about him now to commit because, in the end, we always say we want to be successful as a club, but then you can shine as individuals.
