Skipper Nicky Forster has called on his Albion colleagues to fight tooth and nail in their bid to escape a new year relegation fight.
The Seagulls’ most senior professional wants to give manager Micky Adams a timely boost by pulling away from the side’s precarious position a place above the League One drop zone.
Albion were left with their heads still above water after Yeovil lost 4-2 at home to Stockport on Saturday.
But the other teams below the cut-off line are closing in ahead of the Christmas period which, for the Seagulls, kicks off at Tranmere on Saturday.
They will go into the match having taken just one point from the last five games, a run which culminated in Friday night’s 4-2 home reverse to a superior MK Dons outfit.
Asked how Albion can get out of trouble, Forster said: “You roll your sleeves up and you work hard, that's the first and foremost thing you do.
“You fight tooth and nail, you scrap for every loose ball and every bit of possession. It’s backs to the wall to you make sure you come away with at least a point.
“I’m confident we can get out it.Unfortunately the manager is the one who has to answer the questions but we aren’t doing enough for him at the moment.”
Adams has insisted he is not thinking about a relegation battle. He said: “I think we have got a better squad than the league table suggests but it’s up to us to put it right.”
