New signing Jason Jarrett cannot understand how Albion are in the relegation zone.
The Seagulls have dropped into the bottom four, despite last night’s goalless draw at Leicester, as Leyton Orient had a surprise win at MK Dons.
Former Preston midfielder Jarrett, who made an accomplished debut, said: “With the quality we have I am a little bit baffled by our League position.
“It was a great result. We really battled. Have no doubts, Leicester are the best team in the league but on a couple of occasions we could have nicked it.
“They nearly scored with a couple of ricochets but that would have been really harsh on us. Obviously they had more of the ball as the home team but most of the stuff was played in front of us and they did not really open us up.”
Jarrett was pleased to play the whole game after a frustrating career at Preston. “It was nice to get 90 minutes under my belt,” he said.
“To be honest I’m shattered. It was my first competitive game for nine months and it’s nice to get a result in my first game for the club.”
Boss Micky Adams was encouraged by Jarrett’s contribution. He said: “That 90 minutes will have done him the world of good and I was pleased with his performance.”
