Albion still want new signing Craig Davies to be released from international duty.

But boss Micky Adams has found it hard work getting hold of Wales manager John Toshack, who has brought Davies into the squad to face Poland next Wednesday after a five-match international ban.

Adams, who wants Davies available for a home debut against Peterborough, said: “I’ve spoken to Roy Evans, who is John Toshack’s assistant .

“Unfortunately John is one of those people who doesn’t have a mobile phone so he is very difficult to track down.

“I expressed our desire to have Craig Davies available for the Peterborough game.”

Davies has come south from Oldham, whose manager John Sheridan offered a mixed assessment of him last night.

Sheridan said: “I’ve always said he’s a very good player on his day but he’s got a lot to learn.

“No-one knows what’s gone on with Craig but he’s gone to play football elsewhere. It’s good for both parties.”
