Midfielder Thomas Pinault is out of Crawley’s crucial clash at play-off rivals Wrexham on Saturday.
But the Frenchman has not broken his ankle as was first feared when he was taken to hospital after the 2-1 defeat by Ebbsfleet in the Setanta Shield on Tuesday.
An x-ray revealed only soft tissue damage but an assessment on how long Pinault will be sidelined won’t be made until his swelling has gone down.
Assistant manager Paul Raynor said: “He’s still very sore. It was a 50-50 challenge and he took a heavy knock but fortunately it is not broken. He’s got no chance for Saturday and we’ll know more next week.”
Defender Jake Wright hopes to train today after an ankle knock forced him off at half-time in Saturday’s goalless draw against Rushden and Diamonds.
