Dean White fancies Albion to produce a shock at high-flying Scunthorpe, if they can keep a clean sheet.

The Seagulls have been working on being harder to break down since Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Walsall which left them three points adrift of safety in League One.

Albion have only had two shut-outs in their last 11 games although a second-half clean sheet against the Saddlers was a crumb of comfort for assistant manager White and boss Russell Slade.

White said: “Scunthorpe are a good football team who pass the ball really well with two lively strikers.

“It will be a difficult game and we have to make ourselves difficult to beat. But if we get a clean sheet I think we will win the game because I think we’ll score.

“We have got some good results this season against the top sides but it means nothing if you have a weakness which the opposition spot and work on, which happened on Tuesday.

“The players have to be resolute and adopt the right mental approach to get the result.

“Everyone knows their job on the pitch and if they don’t do it fingers will be pointed which is how it should be.”

Scunthorpe went back into the play-off zone following Tuesday’s 3-0 home win over Hereford and White acknowledges that they will be under as much pressure as Albion to get a result.

He added: “It’s a different kind of pressure but their crowd will expect them to win their home games and hopefully we can take advantage of that.”
