Albion boss Russell Slade is today expected to defend himself against an allegation that he was sacked as manager at Yeovil.

Glovers chairman John Fry last night issued a statement via his club’s website claiming Slade’s contract had been terminated after he was found guilty of gross misconduct.

Slade is in contact with the League Managers Association over the matter.

Yeovil admitted they were going against advice from their own legal representatives in commenting on Slade’s departure.

In his statement, Fry said Slade had been subject of an internal disciplinary process and had consistently denied allegations of misconduct.

The Glovers chairman added: “The club believed there were reasonable grounds to conclude that Russell Slade had committed gross misconduct and, based on this belief, the club decided that the position warranted the summary termination of his employment.”

Yeovil have taken two points from seven games since parting company with Slade. They were mauled 5-0 at the hands of their previous boss at Withdean last Saturday.

In a statement made when Slade left Yeovil in February, Fry apologised to fans for not explaining the boss’s departure but said he was keeping quiet for legal reasons.

Fry’s latest statement went online shortly after 7pm yesterday as Albion concentrated on today’s key League One game at Scunthorpe.
